Summary

Digital Support and Innovation (DSI) sits within HMRC’s wider Fraud Investigation Service (FIS) responsible for the department’s civil and criminal investigation work. FIS ensures that HMRC has an effective approach to taking on the most serious tax evasion and fraud.

Working across Law Enforcement and government, DSI provides investigative tools and covert techniques to front-line investigations and works with key partners to develop and provide access to new technology and systems to enable investigators to respond to serious and complex tax evasion and crime.
Job description
You'll have good working knowledge of IT infrastructure provisioning at all Government Security Classification levels and will be required to deliver and maintain connectivity and security of the existing IT infrastructure at all existing and new FIS and associated partner /customer sites, the ability to work with a wide range of stakeholders from Other Government Departments (OGD) and HMRC to be able to successfully sustain and deliver a professional service to both HMRC and customers.

You will manage IT related projects, programmes and delivery as part of a small specialised team and will be responsible for working closely with multiple external commercial suppliers, DSI business areas and other specialist covert Government agencies.

Responsibilities Key Responsibilities:

• Manage the operational delivery of complex specialist IT systems from requirements, capture and design to transition into technical deployment and service integration.
• Planning, managing and co-ordinating DS&I projects to ensure optimum efficiency to support develop and design of specialist IT systems, processes and support services.
• Research new technical capabilities, producing detailed business cases to seek funding for the implementation of projects and business as usual in terms of time, cost and quality.

Essential criteria:

Experience and technical understanding of the following areas;

• LAN infrastructure, mobile and VOIP telephony, WAN infrastructure, concepts of Government and commercial grade cryptography, ITIL based IT support and technical project delivery.
• Experience in commercial and Government grade Cryptography devices.
• Cisco technologies including, but not limited to, Catalyst Switches, ASA Firewalls.
• A good understanding of the Government Security Classification system.
• Project Management experience.
