Location: Chatham

Hours: 2 days per week

Rate: £200- £280 pd

Contract Length: 6 months

The role of the document controller will include:

  • To ensure a robust document control system is maintained by the following:
  • All project incoming documentation is recorded
  • All project documentation requiring review is undertaken in a timely manner
  • All project hard copy documentation is scanned electronically
  • All legislative, and project Contract requirements are maintained within a central library
  • Typing, collating and circulation of reports, minutes, agenda's and other relevant support papers
  • All policies, procedures, process's and forms go through the appropriate approval process
  • Coordinate the review of documents requiring regular review and or updating
  • Provide other written reports related to document control as required
  • Manage production of project engineering documents and files, ensuring compliance with company procedures and processes, completeness of information, consistency of content and timely production to meet individual project timescales.
  • Ensure that the necessary information and data for each project provided by the engineering team, external suppliers and from any other appropriate source, collate and compile the documentation and other required material
  • Ensure that the documentation is maintained during the entire life cycle of the project and provide the final version to be included in the Handover/Handback package documentation
  • To manage the provision of complete information and data in liaison with the specialist Engineers, external suppliers and others as necessary

The successful document controller will require:

    • Proven ability to prepare engineering documentation
    • Good communication and organisational skills
    • Experience in setting up and implementing systems
    • Effective People Management Skills
    • Logical, methodical, organised and disciplined
    • Effective communicator, able to apply interpersonal relationship skills in order to obtain the co-operation of others in the performance of the work
    • Working in a team environment, able to give work guidance and advice to others
    • Understanding of safety, quality and environmental issues relevant to the railway environment
    • Experience within the Railway industry, having various roles, including but not limited to CDM Compliance,
