This is an opportunity to join an integrated team of highly skilled professionals, where you will help ensure the platforms, systems and equipment we deliver to the UK military front-line is safe to use and has minimal environmental impact. You will be working in a team that procures, supports and enhances a wide range of military platforms, systems and equipment.

The Nuclear Propulsion (NP) Project Team works collaboratively with its industry partner, Rolls-Royce, to support the Naval Reactor Plant throughout its lifecycle, from designing the next generation pressurised water reactor to planning the decommissioning of prototype test facilities. The team supports Operation Relentless and, through its various equipment and infrastructure projects, it meets the front line command's availability requirements. The team is a multi-disciplinary team of civilian and Royal Navy personnel with extensive nuclear, safety and submarine experience and expertise.

Responsibilities

As Quality Assurance Engineer, you will be a forward-thinking individual who is as motivated working within a team as you are independently. You will utilise your experience in manufacturing processes, within a technical environment, and your knowledge in internal quality management and auditing to provide solutions to any technical problems that may arise. You will be involved in a variety of high-profile and technically complex submarine defence programmes, making this role both exciting and challenging.

Within this post, you will be responsible for undertaking the Quality Assurance Engineer role at Rolls-Royce Submarines and their sub-contractors by performing quality assurance (QA) activities on the nuclear steam raising plant equipment and components for the Trafalgar, Vanguard, Astute and Dreadnought-class submarine platforms, to ensure that:

* It is manufactured, tested and commissioned to meet QA requirements
* All manufacturing is conducted in accordance with authorised documentation
* The QA assurance evidence meets all organisation requirements such as those reflected in operational frameworks, policies, strategies, processes and plans, and that these meet all stakeholder requirements

You will also:

* Provide in-depth resilience support, through QA assurance activities, via the NQAR team in all areas within Rolls-Royce Submarines
* Engage with key stakeholders and influence engineering decision making through the provision of QA advice and guidance

What you will be assessed against

To be successful with your application, you must demonstrate that you meet the following essential criteria:
* You will have demonstrable experience in industry/manufacturing and quality assurance, gained from involvement with multiple projects, including supply chain engagement
* You will hold a minimum of a Level 4 qualification (e.g. HNC) in a relevant Engineering subject or will demonstrate equivalent experience
* You will be a member of a Professional Quality Institute or be willing to obtain in 12 months
