Due to ongoing development projects they are looking to appoint a Development Engineer with a mechanical engineering background to undertake a key, varied role in the team. This is a key role working together with a dynamic and highly professional team of engineers supporting the design and development of key new product development projects.

As Development Engineer, you will have responsibility through the whole project lifecycle on NPI / R&D projects from concept to full scale manufacture as well as supporting re-design of some of the businesses prestigious legacy products.

As such as Product Development Engineer you will support projects from early stages of projects to ensure that the customer specification is reviewed and then be able to influence and shape the early design concepts, partnering with the programme manager to devise a clear project plan.  You will then manage this through the project life-cycle, manging key milestones and design reviews, advising on any potential design, performance or structural risks, producing performance calculations and looking at how any risk identified can be mitigated by undertaking clear analysis and testing.

With responsibility for one large or several concurrent projects at any one time you will also input into Design for Manufacture stages to ensure manufacturability, repeatability and reliability during production ramp up.  You will also support development testing, writing test procedures and ultimately verifying  performance. 

The position will suit a mechanically biased Development Engineer / Design Engineer with several years’ experience of supporting complex, NPI (new product introduction) projects through the entire project lifecycle as well as supporting high value legacy projects within a mechanical / aerospace environment

To succeed in this key role utilising both your technical and commercial acumen you will be :

  • A degree qualified Engineer (in a mechanical or related engineering discipline)
  • A background working on complex, mechanical products within an aerospace, automotive or similar manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of mechanical and hydraulic development / design concepts.
  • First class analytical skills
  • Expertise in production and qualification test methods
  • An understanding of assembly techniques and tooling to support Design for Manufacture (DFM)
