Change and Configuration Engineer - 6 month contract - Scotstoun, Glasgow - £41.12ph UMB or £32.00ph PAYE (Inside IR35)

The Umbrella rate quoted above is the Gross Umbrella rate (i.e. the rate we pay to the Umbrella Company inclusive of ALL employment costs). Please note, the rate paid by the Umbrella will be less, as will a Limited Deemed rate or Agency PAYE rate. Please get in touch to discuss the rates via these different payment vehicles.

This role requires you to obtain a basic disclosure along with employment reference checks before starting.

The role:

This key role will support the implementation of the product change process by identifying and developing enhancements to the process to enable the enterprise change board to meet programme requirements. This is involved engaging with stakeholders internal to the project to ensure the successful implementation of product change management.

This role will apply business procedures, methods and systems to support the product change management process. It will ensure that all Change Management forums' agendas and actions are recorded and published in accordance with the Change Management process requirements.

Data integrity will be critical to the programme and this role will act to support the creation of quality Product Change Requests and to progress these through the Windchill CMII workflow and reported to the programme.

Core duties:

  • Development and implementation of industry leading process and capability for product change management across the project lifecycle
  • Work closely with the Principal Engineer - Product Change to deliver the product Change Board (ECB)
  • Change Management forum Minutes and actions recorded and published according to required timescales
  • Ensure all changes requests and associated tasks are processed within required timescales
  • Collate and Prepare Product Change Management metrics
  • Weekly change task reporting
  • Key Central Engineering Representative at Product Change Embodiment Boards

Knowledge:

  • Good understanding of the Enterprise PLM systems and applications used to design, build and support a complex warship
  • Good understanding of the typical product data (and its lifecycle) generated for use by the project
  • Qualification from a relevant Configuration Management accreditation organisation (e.g. NDIA, CMII) would be an advantage
  • Knowledge of Global Combat Ship programmes
  • Knowledge of wider business processes for engineering (as documented in the Business Management System)
  • Knowledge of BAE Systems LCM

Qualifications:

  • Ideally, accredited in a relevant CM methodology, i.e. CMII, NDIA,
  • Experience working with CM Defence Standards,
  • Strong experience in CM toolsets and CM practice

There is a significant CMC&C capability shortfall across GCS Programmes, resulting in Non Conformances/ Recommendations being raised within Assurance Reviews and Internal Audit findings. This role, together with the Senior Engineer - CM&C role, will provide much needed support to the Programme to further develop, establish and maintain the CM Baselines, to not only support the programme, but also build a sound foundation across other projects.
