We are seeking candidates with experience in Software enabled Systems/Cyber and Security, wanting to work in an air environment.

As an Air Engineering Software/Cyber Security Manager, you will become the technical authority to enable the team to deliver equipment that is resilient to growing cyber equipment threats, now and in the future, for this emerging technology area. The roles cover all areas of information security, information assurance, cyber security and software certification and assurance across Air Environment areas of the business. These appointments may require the post holder to achieve an Airworthiness Letter of Delegation within 12 months of appointment.

You will report into management, based at Abbey Wood; however, our teams are currently working predominantly from home, due to COVID-19 restrictions. Under our general conditions, we offer flexible working arrangements.

Responsibilities for Air Engineering Software/Cyber Security Manager

As an Air Engineering Software/Cyber Security Manager, you will be responsible for the development, implementation and delivery of activity against engineering management plans, including engagement with various stakeholders, such as the Aviation Duty Holder, the air regulatory authorities and industry, to ensure systems and equipment are safe by design and remain safe to operate.

These are Professional Engineer roles, managing the delivery of security requirements and associated tasks through all phases of the acquisition lifecycle. You will be required to develop and manage the security case at a project level, to protect assets through-life, ensuring that capability remains operational. A key aspect of the work is to identify and manage the security risks associated with projects during any phase of the acquisition life cycle. You will be influential in demonstrating your knowledge and experience with cyber security and/or information security, in relation to engineering projects.

Other responsibilities will include, but not be limited to, the following:
- Providing subject matter advice and guidance, as the lead technical authority within the team on cyber and security, applying standard security techniques and architectures to mitigate security risks
- Understanding the operational environment of the equipment and the cyber security risks that this presents, identifying threats, vulnerabilities and mitigations
- Leading the development of security artefacts including risk management document accreditation sets and producing system security cases, as required
- Providing advice on the residual cyber security risk associated with user experimentation, entry into service, and through life, to customers and users, supporting the development of any resulting risk balance cases as a technical authority - Leading on the development of new processes, where required, to enable the MoD to make the most of emerging technology, understanding the changing threat environment

What you will be assessed against

To be successful with your application, you must demonstrate that you meet the following essential criteria:

* You will hold a relevant Level 4 (or higher) qualification in an engineering related subject or will demonstrate equivalent experience in the aerospace industry
* You will have engineering experience in a relevant field such as cyber security, software engineering, networking or electronics environments and demonstrate some understanding of data security concepts (or similar areas)
* You will have the ability to communicate well with both technical and non-technical customers and have demonstrable experience of managing and influencing a variety of senior stakeholders on policy, process and technical risk management
* You will hold Incorporated Engineer status or demonstrate the equivalent knowledge, skills and experience to achieve within 12 months * You will have led Engineering teams and activities

It would benefit your application if you are able to demonstrate the following desirable criteria:

* Delivery in a cyber-security, information assurance or software assurance role, ideally where you have produced key artefacts
* Experience of working in a secure supply chain and/or familiarity working with sensitive information
* We would be particularly interested in applications from people with an aviation regulatory environment background
