The Business Architecture (BA) Directorate lead all aspects of and assess the high-level designs of all proposed changes, identifying gaps or duplication. We maintain a helicopter view of the major design elements, providing the design bridge between Strategy, Planning & Delivery teams.

We have embedded a structured approach to business design using recognised architectural methods. We have developed new architecture models that support the development of business design products, facilitating a smooth transition from business to technology design.

We have established a BA Profession where we share the same knowledgebase, a common set of practices and a career development framework.
  What you will do

The Business Architect role requires a broad background in Strategy, Business Design, Delivery and Information Technology. You will need to provide architectural viewpoints as required; ensuring requirements are in alignment with strategies and roadmaps. Communication and collaborate with others in the team and across the department to ensure smooth transition from business to technology design.

Conduct architectural analysis on a range of topics, bringing clarity and consistency to support decision making while Identifying the best options and being able to communicate the reasons why to our partners. Always maintain governance arrangements and standards for business information raising risks and issues appropriately within area of responsibility. Continue to support the
continued development of the BA Profession.

Work with a wide range of partners to maintain a view of the design changes being proposed to support strategic and operational goals. Collect data into the business architecture models and communicate ideas and information in a way that builds a shared understanding.

Use industry recognised models and methodologies (e.g. Business Model Canvas, Business Capability Mapping) to gather and link the value propositions. Draft written, visual and oral briefings, ensuring partner interests are identified and addressed.

Essential Criteria

• Understanding of and ability to apply business architectural principles, techniques and tools to business challenges.

• Good communication skills and the proven track record to handle a range of partner relationships and engage in debate to resolve issues and differences.

• Experience modelling business architecture artefacts, including abstract or distilled representations of the organisation; knowing when to apply them appropriately.

• Ability to communicate at all levels through written and verbal communications, as well as visualizations that can be used to extend and mature the department’s critical thinking.

• Ability to apply focused logical thinking, analysing trends, reactions and feedback to draw conclusions based on facts.

• Professional Certificate in Business Architecture

• Certified Business Architect Program (CBA)

• The Open Group Architecture Framework (TOGAF) - Parts 1 & 2

• Project Delivery Qualification (e.g. Prince2, Agile PM)

• Business Analysis Related Qualification
