The Role

An exciting opportunity to join a dynamic team responsible for planning and assembling prototype Electric Power Steering systems. Our client is one of the world's largest producers of electric steering systems supplying a wide range of global vehicle manufacturers.

The Prototype Department work closely with the product engineering teams to build steering products from initial concept designs through to the DV (Design Validation) stage and beyond. This is a hands-on role that will include assembling of units according to build and control plans, checking of samples, and the recording of key parameters

What you'll do:

• Perform assigned build activities to assemble EPS steering systems,
• Perform assigned tests on test samples, in line with the requirements, Customer Specifications and Test Equipment Work Instructions,
• Be familiar with and supportive of build documentation such as prototype control plans plans, build records,
• Be familiar and supportive of the Prototype Department quality procedures,
• Be familiar with and maintain build fixtures and test equipment,
• Be supportive and familiar with department sample handling systems, including sample identification and calibration control.

What we are looking for...

Essential:

• HNC/HND in an Engineering subject,
• Strong background in mechanical sub-assemblies,
• Practical person with a flexible and willing approach,
• Understanding of basic electro-mechanical and test principles,
• Good organisational skills,
• PC literate and proficiency with Microsoft Office,
• Familiar with working within a quality system such as ISO 17025 or 16949,
• Good communication skills and comfortable at all levels and with customers,
• Positive team player,
• Willing and able to work shifts and overtime, sometimes at short notice.
