Job Description:
Key features of the job description are:
- Responsible for A&I's QHSE processes and procedures to maintain accreditations (ISO9001-2015, ISO14001-2015, ISO45001:2018 and other standards as needed from time to time)
- Drive the QMS and HSE systems and advise on all QHSE matters, issues, and concerns to ensure compliance with statutory requirements, contractual requirements, and good industry practice
- Responsible for management of and liaison with QHSE auditors to acquire/maintain necessary accreditations
- Lead & provide advice on development, management, and monitoring of the QHSE performance of the business unit
- Report on the business unit QHSE performance and metrics to the leadership team and group as/when required including leading briefings on actions, deficiencies, and recommended enhancements
- Produce further analysis and reports as may be required by the Directors, or snr management from time to time
- Lead the QHSE internal audit programme and conduct audits to evaluate the effectiveness of systems, procedures and assessing compliance. Identifying and implementing improvements as necessary across global A&I via liaison with local experts, site managers and snr leadership teams
- Conduct QHSE training using internal and external resources as required
- Liaise with customers and supply chain/procurement regarding QHSE matters, ensuring their expectations are met
- Maintain awareness of evolving industry QHSE regulations, standards, and best practice and how they could be applied to the business unit's operations
- Advise on special (project-specific) quality requirements as they arise (Military, Aerospace, or laboratory standards)
- Develop and maintain a team to act as Subject Matter Experts for QHSE (internal or external advisors)
- Resolve and/or escalate all QHSE issues in a timely fashion
- Ensure the business unit is legally compliant in all aspects of QHSE wherever it has staff through site visits or through the local QMS/QHSE representatives in territory
Leadership:
- Reports to the Global Managing Director, Automotive & Industrial
- Supported by Group Risk Manager - the Ricardo plc QHSE leader
- Works with Presidents of each A&I territory and peers in other business units and Group IT/Information security
In respect of the candidate profile:
- Proven QHSE expertise from professional services and/or testing environments operating globally
- Ideally you will have a background in a strongly regulated industry with excellent knowledge of Quality Management Systems (AS9100 an advantage)
- Experience in NPI and prototype development would be an advantage as would experience in hazardous chemicals (petrol, diesel, ammonia, hydrogen and electrification processes). Ricardo is a project driven business
- Strong leadership skills to constantly drive health, safety, environmental, and quality improvements
- A "hands-on" implementer of processes and change with a sense of urgency
- Strongly motivational character with proven leadership ability to influence others at all levels in the organisation to achieve objectives with a team approach
- Consistently acknowledges and appreciates team member's contributions
- Ability to simultaneously manage several projects
- Ability to participate in and facilitate group meetings
- Strong analytical and logical approach. Ability and experience of auditing
- Excellence with data manipulation and presentation of critical information - excellent professional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
- Commercially and legally aware, understanding of ESG and operational drive needed to deliver
- Able to obtain appropriate UK security clearance
- UK Driving licence and ability/willingness to travel domestically and internationally
