The Infrastructure Officer role within CODE Technology is a technical role providing IT support and project delivery across a wide spectrum of IT systems. Reporting to the Infrastructure Manager the successful candidates will work and liaise with other members of the CODE Technology team and provide first, second and to a lesser extent third line support for desktop, servers and applications. You will implement changes in line with the agreed approval process and could also be responsible for computer desktop provision, ongoing maintenance of the desktop estate and support the design and builds of new infrastructure services. Technical - This is a technical role requiring a technical aptitude and would suit an IT engineer looking to advance their knowledge and career.

The job role includes but is not limited to:

• Troubleshooting and resolving customer IT technical support issues
• Working closely with 1st and 3rd line colleagues supporting troubleshooting and resolution
• Involvement with and supporting delivery of IT projects.
• Maintaining technical documentation and developing and maintaining written guidance as needed.
• Supporting application deployment, patching and configuration.
• Maintenance of IT hardware and server room infrastructure including cabling and power.
• Setup and configure computer equipment, phones, printers and peripherals and provide ongoing maintenance and support. This includes providing support to business systems, network (LAN, WLAN and WAN) connectivity, audio / visual equipment, video conferencing units and telephony (including administration).

Travel - Regular travel within the UK for meetings and infrastructure work will be required with occasional overnight stays. Candidates must live within reasonable daily travel, which is usually an hour each way, of an HMRC Regional Centre.

Flexibility Payment - This post attracts a Level 1a Flexibility Payment (FP) combined with a bespoke FP package of 90 additional hours, which are paid monthly with salary. This FP allows HMRC flexibility to change your work pattern, at short notice, to meet business needs. Additionally, you will be expected to work additional hours, at weekends and outside your normal working hours/days (including bank holidays).

In applying for a position and accepting the FP, you agree that you can and will meet those attendance requirements.

Security Clearance - This role requires National Security Vetting at Security Check (SC) clearance level and depending on the role you are assigned to you may be required to obtain Developed Vetting (DV) clearance level. To take up duty you will need to hold Security Check (SC) vetting or be willing to apply for it. Following a successful SC application and probation period depending on your role you may be required to initiate DV vetting. If you do not hold SC or DV but are willing to go through the process, any job offer would be conditional and may be withdrawn should you fail to achieve the required vetting levels.

Essential Criteria:

• Experience in previous IT based role and/or has undertaken IT based learning.
• Be excited about technology, new capabilities and the opportunities they present.
• Have knowledge of knowledge of:
o Using/managing Windows desktops and servers.
o IPv4 addressing.
o IP address related network services such as DHCP and DNS.
o Network equipment such as routers and switches, and associated cabling.

Have an awareness of:

o Managing Windows domains using Active Directory.
o Additional network services such as NTP, SMTP, and SNMP etc.
o Network security techniques including Firewalls, VPNs, and ACLs etc.
o Routing and switching including VLANs.
o Virtualization (VMware, ESXi and vCenter or equivalent).
o Linux operating systems.
• Ability to work well under pressure and to deadlines.
• Highly motivated, pro-active team player with good communication skills.
• Strong organisation skills, able to prioritise and proactively manage own workload effectively.
• Willingness to learn and share skills, knowledge and experience, and develop alongside 3rd line colleagues.
• You all ready hold National Security Vetting at Security Check Level or willing to apply for it and be willing to obtain clearance at Developed Vetting (DV) level if required. Any job offer would be conditional and may be withdrawn should you fail to achieve the required vetting levels.

Desirable Criteria:

Full UK Driving licence.
• ITIL 3 or V4 foundation certified.
• Any IT qualification or demonstrable equivalent experience
• Knowledge of basic scripting
