Highways Development Management Engineer needed in Northampton

This is a temporary contract initially paying £36.43ph PAYE

The successful candidate will provide high‑level professional advice on the transport and highway implications of development proposals, offering expert input to a range of internal teams, external partners and stakeholders. They will prepare and issue statutory consultation responses, undertake site visits, assess layouts, and contribute evidence for appeals where required.

They will represent the organisation in discussions with elected representatives, community groups, partner agencies and strategic forums, ensuring clear, impartial and robust highways and transport guidance is delivered. The role also involves securing appropriate infrastructure contributions from major developments, administering associated legal agreements, and monitoring financial and operational obligations. In addition, the successful candidate will coordinate and manage the full process of Transport Assessment checking, including scoping requirements with developers and consultants to ensure submissions meet expected standards.
