Senior Security Engineer

Pearson Carter are currently working with a leading technology-focused organisation that is investing heavily in cybersecurity and digital resilience. As cyber threats continue to evolve, the business is expanding its security function and is looking for a Senior Security Engineer with a strong technical background in security architecture, engineering, and operations.

The successful candidate will play a key role in designing, implementing, and managing security technologies while helping organisations strengthen their cyber defences and operational resilience.

Responsibilities:
  • Design and implement security solutions across Microsoft and third-party security platforms.
  • Lead security implementation projects and managed security services delivery.
  • Build secure solutions while mentoring and supporting junior team members.
  • Develop relationships with technology vendors and contribute to service improvements.
  • Prepare technical documentation, reports, and client deliverables.
  • Support business development initiatives and identify new opportunities.
  • Stay up to date with cybersecurity trends, threats, and best practices.
  • Ensure compliance with internal governance and security requirements.
Experience:
  • Degree in Information Technology, Information Security, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
  • Around 5 years of IT or cybersecurity experience, including 3 years in hands-on security roles.
  • Strong experience with Microsoft Sentinel, Defender, and Purview.
  • Knowledge of cloud and on-premise security architecture and security operations.
  • Experience with SIEM, SOAR, EDR, XDR, WAF, and threat intelligence technologies.
  • Proficiency with PowerShell, Azure Logic Apps, and security automation.
  • Strong communication, stakeholder management, and reporting skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Desirable:
  • Security certifications such as Security, CISSP, or CCSP.
  • Microsoft security certifications including AZ-500, SC-100, SC-200, SC-300, or SC-401.
  • Experience in consultancy, managed services, or client-facing environments.
  • Previous mentoring or leadership experience within security teams.
Salary:

Salary is between €45-50k dependent on experience

This role is fully onsite in Malta
