Senior Data Engineer

As demand for modern data platforms, analytics, and AI-driven solutions continues to grow, the business is looking for a Senior Data Engineer to join its expanding team.

The successful candidate will play a key role in designing, implementing, and optimising enterprise-scale data platforms while working closely with clients and mentoring junior team members.

Responsibilities:

• Design and deliver scalable data platforms, pipelines, and analytics solutions.
• Optimise data workflows to ensure performance, reliability, and scalability.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to translate business requirements into data-driven solutions.
• Integrate data from multiple sources, including real-time and streaming environments.
• Provide technical leadership through code reviews, mentoring, and best practice guidance.
• Support data governance, warehousing, ETL processes, and cross-functional initiatives.
• Contribute to resource planning, innovation, and continuous improvement of data capabilities.

Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field.
• 5 years of Data Engineering experience delivering scalable data solutions.
• Strong Python, PySpark, and SQL skills.
• Hands-on experience with Databricks, Azure Data Factory, or Microsoft Fabric.
• Solid understanding of data architecture, warehousing, and ETL methodologies.
• Experience with cloud-native and hybrid data environments.
• Familiarity with Git and modern development practices.
• Strong communication skills with experience mentoring team members and engaging stakeholders.

Desirable:

• Microsoft certifications related to Azure or Microsoft Fabric.
• Experience with Power BI and data visualisation.
• Exposure to AI-enabled data platforms.
• Knowledge of cloud cost optimisation strategies.

Salary:

Salary is up to €60k dependent on experience.

Location:

This role is based onsite in Malta.
