Senior Mechanical Engineer Data Centre / AI Infrastructure  Sydney

Pearson Carter are currently working with a global leader in sustainable AI infrastructure, developing next-generation data centre solutions designed to improve energy efficiency, scalability, and performance across large-scale AI computing environments.

Due to growth, they are hiring a Senior Mechanical Engineer to support end-to-end design, commissioning, and optimisation of advanced mechanical systems across state-of-the-art AI infrastructure projects.

This role will work across mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems, partnering with consultants, contractors, and internal engineering teams to deliver high-performance data centre environments.

Responsibilities:
Lead mechanical design from concept through to commissioning
Develop engineering documentation, calculations, and technical standards
Review consultant designs and contractor workshop drawings
Support equipment selection, procurement, and construction activities
Participate in site inspections and commissioning of mechanical systems
Drive optimisation initiatives and continuous improvement
Mentor junior engineers and support technical development

Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
8 years mechanical engineering experience
5 years Data Centre MEP experience
Strong knowledge of heat transfer, fluid dynamics, and ASHRAE standards
Experience with mechanical systems design and commissioning
Strong problem-solving and stakeholder communication skills
Experience working in complex, multidisciplinary environments

Location
Sydney (with 10–30% travel during project delivery phases)
