Python Developer (Django)
The Company
Our client is a fast-growing SaaS business developing cloud-based software used by thousands of customers worldwide. Their platform helps businesses streamline operations through modern web applications, automation and data-driven insights.
With continued growth, they are looking to add a Python Developer to their engineering team to help build new features, improve platform performance and contribute to the ongoing evolution of their core product.
The Role
As a Python Developer, you'll work as part of a collaborative engineering team delivering scalable backend solutions using Django. You'll contribute across the full software development lifecycle, from designing new functionality through to deployment and ongoing optimisation.
You'll work closely with frontend developers, product managers and QA engineers to deliver reliable and maintainable software in an agile environment.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain backend services using Python and Django.
- Design and build REST APIs for internal and customer-facing applications.
- Write clean, well-tested and maintainable code.
- Optimise application performance and scalability.
- Work with PostgreSQL to design and improve database structures.
- Collaborate with the wider engineering team on new product features.
- Participate in code reviews and technical discussions.
- Troubleshoot production issues and implement long-term improvements.
- Contribute to CI/CD pipelines and cloud deployments.
About You
- 3 years of commercial Python development experience.
- Strong experience building applications with Django and Django REST Framework.
- Experience designing and consuming RESTful APIs.
- Good understanding of PostgreSQL and relational databases.
- Familiarity with Docker and containerised development.
- Experience working with AWS or another major cloud platform.
- Understanding of Git version control and modern development workflows.
- Experience working in Agile development teams.
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach to problem solving.
Nice to Have
- Experience with Celery and Redis.
- Exposure to Kubernetes.
- Knowledge of GraphQL.
- Experience working within a SaaS environment.
- Familiarity with automated testing frameworks such as Pytest.
