THE ROLE:The Senior Mechanical Engineer will play a key role in the end-to-end delivery of AI infrastructure developments, specialising in mechanical systems within the data centre MEP environment.
Key responsibilities include:
- Developing mechanical designs and technical documentation from concept through to commissioning.
- Supporting the qualification, onboarding, and management of consultants and contractors.
- Performing engineering calculations and providing system designs for delivery partners.
- Reviewing consultant designs, contractor workshop drawings, and equipment selections.
- Providing final equipment selections, including capacity and efficiency requirements for procurement and construction.
- Supporting the development of Operations & Maintenance manuals.
- Conducting site inspections to ensure compliance with project documentation and specifications.
- Participating in commissioning activities to optimise mechanical system performance.
- Developing technical engineering standards and contributing to R&D and design optimisation initiatives.
- Mentoring junior engineers and supporting their technical growth.
The role is based in Australia, with approximately 10–30% travel expected, primarily during project delivery phases.
THE CANDIDATE:The ideal candidate will have:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- 8 years of engineering experience, including a minimum of 5 years within the Data Centre MEP sector.
- Strong understanding of heat transfer, fluid dynamics, and mechanical system design principles.
- Experience applying international design standards, including ASHRAE.
- Knowledge of Asia-Pacific data centre standards and industry practices (advantageous).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capability with the ability to develop innovative technical solutions.
- Excellent attention to detail with a focus on accurate design, documentation, and testing.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience working within cross-functional, multicultural engineering teams.
- Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a collaborative environment.
- A proactive mindset with the flexibility to adapt to changing project priorities.
