Senior Software Engineer (Python / AWS / Distributed Systems) – 200,000–250,000 BonusCompany

Pearson Carter are currently working with a leading global investment management firm that is continuing to invest heavily in technology as a core competitive advantage. With offices across Sydney, Singapore, London and Dubai, you'll join a highly capable engineering team building greenfield platforms that directly power research, trading and portfolio management.

Responsibilities
  • Design and build scalable backend platforms supporting trading, portfolio management and quantitative research.

  • Develop cloud-native applications, APIs and distributed systems using Python, AWS and modern engineering practices.

  • Build real-time data pipelines and high-performance services processing large volumes of investment data.

  • Collaborate directly with portfolio managers, traders and quantitative researchers to deliver innovative technical solutions.

  • Drive engineering best practices across architecture, testing, CI/CD, security and long-term platform development.

Experience

Required

  • 5 years' commercial software engineering experience.

  • Strong Python development experience.

  • Experience with Django, Flask or FastAPI.

  • Strong backend development and API design experience.

  • Experience building distributed systems and cloud-native applications.

  • AWS experience.

  • PostgreSQL or other relational database experience.

  • Experience delivering products from concept through to production.

  • Strong communication skills and a genuine ownership mindset.

Desirable

  • React or TypeScript.

  • Docker and containerisation.

  • Event-driven architectures or messaging systems.

  • Real-time or low-latency systems.

  • Financial services, capital markets or trading platform experience.

  • Experience working within high-growth engineering teams.

  • 200,000 – 250,000 Base Salary
