Application Support Engineer (Contract)

Pearson Carter are currently working with a leading global healthcare organisation that is continuing to invest in its internal IT infrastructure and is looking to strengthen its Application Support team through the appointment of an experienced Application Support Engineer.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a highly collaborative IT function where you will play a key role in supporting and maintaining business-critical applications within a regulated environment. You will work closely with internal IT teams, third-party vendors, and business stakeholders to ensure the availability, performance, and compliance of enterprise applications while contributing to ongoing technology and infrastructure projects.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide onsite technical support for business-critical applications and systems, ensuring they are maintained in line with standard operating procedures and regulatory requirements.
  • Administer, maintain, and support enterprise applications, including Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS), ensuring high availability and performance.
  • Monitor application health, review system logs, troubleshoot incidents, and resolve service requests through the IT Helpdesk system.
  • Coordinate application change management activities, ensuring planned changes, upgrades, and maintenance do not disrupt business operations.
  • Work closely with internal IT teams, vendors, and business users to implement application releases, system upgrades, and ongoing improvements.
  • Lead periodic application and operating system patching activities while ensuring continued compliance and system validation.
  • Support audits through privileged access reviews, compliance activities, and maintaining accurate technical documentation and knowledge base articles.
  • Perform problem management, issue triage, escalation, and contribute to IT projects and continuous improvement initiatives.

Experience:

  • Previous experience in an Application Support Engineer or similar role supporting enterprise applications within a medium to large organisation.
  • Strong understanding of IT Service Management processes including Incident, Problem, Request, and Change Management.
  • Experience supporting Windows Server environments, Active Directory, Group Policy, and core networking technologies including DNS, DHCP, IP management, and switching.
  • Knowledge of Windows and Linux server administration with strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication, organisational, and stakeholder management skills with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Ability to quickly learn and support complex, business-critical applications within a regulated environment.
  • Experience supporting Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) or other validated enterprise applications.

 

Location:

This role is fully onsite, five days per week, based at the company's office in Assen Nederland .
