Senior Thermal Engineer AI Data Centres / HPC 180,000–200,000 Australia

Pearson Carter are currently working with a global AI infrastructure company developing next-generation high-density computing environments designed around sustainable thermal management and advanced liquid cooling technologies.

Due to growth, they are looking to hire a Senior Thermal Engineer to lead thermal design and optimisation across AI Factory infrastructure, working with GPU clusters at rack densities exceeding 100kW.

This is a highly technical role combining CFD, experimental validation, liquid cooling design, and digital twin development. You’ll have access to significant GPU compute capacity to run large-scale ANSYS Fluent simulations and support advanced thermal modelling.

They offer an excellent salary package of approximately 180K–200K, with flexibility depending on experience.

Responsibilities:
Lead thermal design and optimisation for high-density AI infrastructure
Design and validate direct-to-chip, immersion, and hybrid cooling systems
Develop large-scale CFD models using ANSYS Fluent
Lead experimental thermal testing and validation campaigns
Develop predictive thermal models and digital twins
Apply ML techniques to thermal prediction and optimisation
Drive sustainable cooling solutions and improve PUE

Experience:
8 years thermal management experience in data centres / HPC
Advanced ANSYS Fluent and CFD experience
Strong liquid cooling experience including cold plates and heat exchangers
Experimental thermal testing and instrumentation experience
Experience with high-power-density electronic systems
Multi-physics simulation experience
Proficiency with MATLAB, Python, and CAD tools
Strong technical communication and research background

Salary
They offer an excellent salary package: approximately 180,000–200,000 depending on experience.
