AI Engineer Agentic AI 120,000 Super Brisbane

Pearson Carter are currently working with an early-stage Australian technology company building production-grade AI agents for the vocational education and training sector. With real users, revenue, and established businesses supporting the product, they are now scaling their technical team.

Due to growth, they are looking for an AI Engineer to design, build, deploy, and maintain production agentic systems while working directly with the Founder and guiding a small technical team.

This is a hands-on role with genuine ownership across AI architecture, integrations, security, monitoring, compute, and strategy.

They offer a competitive salary of around 120K Super, full-time onsite working, and genuine influence over the technical direction of a growing startup.

Responsibilities:
Design and build production agentic AI systems
Develop integrations across APIs, OAuth, webhooks, and business platforms
Own architecture, compute, cost, and scaling decisions
Establish AI evaluation, testing, monitoring, and security practices
Guide and review the work of a small technical team
Advise leadership on AI strategy, tooling, and build vs buy decisions

Experience:
3 years professional experience
Production experience with agentic AI systems
Strong REST API, OAuth, webhook, and integration skills
Understanding of AI security, prompt injection, and data privacy
Experience with monitoring, testing, version control, and deployment
Startup or early-stage experience strongly preferred
Strong communication and technical leadership skills

Salary
They offer a competitive salary package around 120,000 Super, with flexibility for the right candidate.

Location
Toowong, Brisbane (5 days onsite)
