Senior DevOps / Systems Engineer
Pearson Carter are currently working with a market-leading organisation that is investing heavily in its in-house technology and infrastructure teams. Due to continued growth, they are looking to appoint an experienced Senior DevOps / Systems Engineer to support and improve their production infrastructure, cloud estate and deployment platforms.

You'll work across AWS infrastructure, Linux systems, networking, automation, CDN and WAF technologies, and CI/CD pipelines, while collaborating closely with development and wider technology teams.

Responsibilities
- Manage and improve a production AWS estate, including EC2, load balancers, VPC and related networking services.
- Maintain Linux infrastructure, including nginx, Apache, Redis, MariaDB/RDS, PostgreSQL and OpenSearch/Elasticsearch.
- Manage and optimise CDN and WAF solutions across Akamai and Cloudflare.
- Maintain infrastructure as code using Terraform and Ansible.
- Support and improve CI/CD pipelines using Bitbucket Pipelines.
- Monitor and maintain infrastructure using Zabbix, CloudWatch, Pingdom and New Relic.
- Investigate production incidents, identify root causes and implement improvements.
- Automate operational tasks using Python and Bash.
- Participate in the rotating 24/7 on-call rota.
Experience
- 5 years' experience in a DevOps, Systems Engineer or SysAdmin role.
- Strong Linux systems administration experience in a production environment.
- Strong AWS and cloud architecture experience, including EC2, load balancers and VPC.
- Hands-on experience with nginx, Apache, Redis, MariaDB/RDS, PostgreSQL and OpenSearch/Elasticsearch.
- Strong Terraform and infrastructure-as-code experience.
- Experience with Python and Bash automation.
- Experience managing CDN/WAF solutions, particularly Akamai.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and production incident management.
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills, with the ability to work independently and under pressure.
- Willingness to participate in a rotating 24/7 on-call rota.
Salary
Salary is dependent on experience and will go up to £75k.
Location
This role is fully remote but have an office in Scotland.
