Head of Legal Services (Hybrid) needed in Barnsley, £44.08ph PAYE (Negotiable) - Reference: 000B 5BC0 / 1

Working Pattern

• Ideally 3-4 days per week, although full-time hours could be considered for the right candidate to provide additional resilience within the team.
• Office attendance requirements:
  • Full-time staff attend the office 3 days per week.
  • Part-time staff would attend proportionately less, typically 1-2 days per week.

You will ideally have

• Previous local government/council experience.
• Significant experience working within legal services in a local authority setting.
• Senior management experience with responsibility for leading and developing teams.
• Some knowledge and understanding of Adult Social Care and Children's Social Care legal matters. Candidates are not expected to be specialists in every area but should have a broad legal background across local government services.

Team Management Responsibilities

The postholder will have responsibility for a number of direct reports covering:

• Property
• Procurement and Contracts
• Litigation
• Adult Social Care
• Children's Social Care

Additional responsibilities include management oversight of:

• Information Governance
• Data Protection
• SARs (Subject Access Requests)
• Corporate Complaints

This is a full time role on a temporary contract basis.
