Driving Licence Needed
- The Neighbourhood Warden role sits within Housing Management and is accountable to the Senior Neighbourhood Warden.
- The purpose of the role is to provide a visible, accessible and practical neighbourhood presence that supports safe, clean, well-maintained and confident communities.
- The postholder helps manage assigned neighbourhoods and communal areas, promotes a positive image of the area, responds to local issues, supports residents and works with teams, contractors and external agencies.
- The role includes carrying out regular health and safety inspections, compliance checks and neighbourhood checks in line with agreed schedules and procedures.
- The Warden records, reports and escalates hazards, defects, repairs, nuisance, abandoned vehicles, environmental issues and other concerns.
- They are expected to take appropriate action to help keep communal areas, blocks and neighbourhoods safe, tidy and well cared for, including chasing repairs when needed and supporting the upkeep of empty properties.
- The postholder works closely with residents, block representatives, tenant groups, local community groups, services and partner agencies.
- This includes supporting customer involvement, community safety, environmental improvements, community development, responsible citizenship and effective communication with residents, including older or vulnerable tenants and victims of crime.
- The role also includes delivering letters and newsletters, maintaining notice boards, attending meetings where required and supporting community projects or events.
- Operational duties include regular cleaning of communal areas, refuse areas, entrances, shed and drying areas, supporting the cleaning team, removing litter, dealing with small areas of graffiti, coordinating bulky waste and fly-tipping responses, carrying out minor repairs within competence, and reporting issues that need specialist support.
- The Warden may also support accompanied viewings, decoration pack delivery, fire information packs including PEEPs, and occasional duties linked to concierge support, CCTV, key fobs or emergency access arrangements.
