Pearson Carter is currently supporting a well-established organisation that is expanding its in-house software engineering capabilities. As part of this continued investment, they are looking to appoint a Senior Full Stack React/.NET Developer to become part of their Buying & Merchandising technology function.

This role will involve developing and enhancing applications used across key commercial areas including product management, purchasing, stock control, pricing, promotions and sales reporting. You'll work across the full technology stack, with a focus on C#, .NET, SQL Server, Entity Framework Core, React and TypeScript.

The wider engineering environment includes cloud-based solutions, distributed applications, microservices and modern containerised infrastructure. You'll be joining a number of small, autonomous development teams that work collaboratively using Kanban, with an emphasis on engineering standards, automated testing, peer reviews and continuous delivery.

The position would suit a senior developer who enjoys working across both frontend and backend technologies and is comfortable contributing to technical discussions, solving challenging problems and helping less experienced developers develop their skills.

• Design, develop and enhance full stack applications using C#, .NET, React and TypeScript.
• Contribute to software used across buying, merchandising, stock management, pricing and promotional functions.
• Work across both established monolithic applications and modern microservice-based platforms.
• Develop event-driven and distributed solutions using technologies such as RabbitMQ, MassTransit and Azure Service Bus.
• Build reliable, maintainable REST APIs and backend services.
• Develop and deploy containerised applications using Docker and Kubernetes in Microsoft Azure.
• Participate in the development and improvement of CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins and associated tooling.
• Take part in peer code reviews, collaborative development and automated testing practices.
• Contribute to frontend solutions incorporating microfrontend patterns and contemporary React development techniques.
• Follow established Git workflows and contribute to effective source control practices.
• Translate business and technical requirements into clear, workable development solutions.
• Investigate complex technical issues and take ownership of identifying appropriate resolutions.
• Work iteratively, delivering valuable functionality early and refining solutions through feedback.
• Assist with technical estimation, planning and project definition.
• Share knowledge and provide guidance and support to junior developers.
• Contribute ideas around engineering standards, development processes and continuous improvement.

• At least 6 years of professional experience developing with C#, SQL, Entity Framework Core and JavaScript/TypeScript.
• A minimum of 4 years' commercial experience working with React or a comparable modern frontend framework.
• Proven experience working across both server-side and client-side development.
• Practical knowledge of distributed application architecture and messaging technologies.
• Strong understanding of designing, developing and maintaining microservice-based systems.
• Demonstrable experience creating RESTful APIs and scalable backend services.
• Strong SQL Server experience and a good understanding of relational database design.
• Experience working within development teams that use automated testing, peer reviews and continuous integration/delivery.
• Hands-on experience with Docker and Kubernetes; experience within an Azure environment would be advantageous.
• Familiarity with Jenkins and modern CI/CD workflows.
• Experience using GitFlow or similar structured source control processes.
• Strong analytical skills and an ability to break down and resolve complex technical challenges.
• Clear and confident communication skills, both written and verbal.
• A pragmatic approach to engineering, with the ability to balance technical considerations with business requirements.
• Previous experience supporting or mentoring less experienced developers would be an advantage.
• Experience contributing to technical estimates, project planning or initial project definition would be beneficial.
• Experience within a retail or commercially focused environment would be advantageous.

Salary is dependent on experience and looking to go up to £85k.

This is a remote role however there is an office based in London for quarterly meet ups.
