Principal Environmental Technical Officer (Hybrid) needed in Exeter, £22.20ph PAYE - Reference: 5305254

To be the lead contaminated land, air quality and noise specialist and undertake work in these areas to ensure compliance with the relevant statutory provisions.

To be a point of expertise, guidance and advice relating to the specialist areas of work of the post.

To assist in any project undertaken by the section, such as the Review and Assessment of Air Quality, the implementation of the Contaminated Land Strategy, and produce written reports relating to these projects.

To undertake the inspection and monitoring of premises in accordance with the provisions of the Pollution Prevention and Control Act regime and any future legislation. To draft and issue permits and undertake enforcement action if necessary.

To assist other sections within the Client by the measurement/technical assessment of noise or other forms of pollutions, including noise and chimney height calculations etc.

To investigate complaints relating to noise, light pollution and atmospheric pollution within the City.

To screen all planning applications and Licensing applications received by the Client and co-ordinate the Environmental Health and Community Safety’s response to Planning and Licensing. To attend Development Committee Screening meetings, Committee meetings and Licensing hearings if required.

To undertake the operation and calibration of the atmospheric pollution monitoring stations(s) and review the monitoring programme/network annually.

Assist with out of hour’s duties as required and assisting with incidents as defined under the emergency plan. This includes coordinating with other agencies, liaising with other client departments and ensuring that the service delivers the optimal response possible to the emerging incident.

This is a full time role on a temporary contract basis
