Housing Enforcement Lead needed in Newcastle Paying  £26.19 per hr ref RQ1785476

Full time hours on a temporary basis

• Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the delivery of housing enforcement functions across private rented and licensed properties.
  • Manage complex investigations relating to housing disrepair, overcrowding, unlawful evictions, harassment, rogue landlords, and housing standards.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant legislation including the Housing Act 2004, Environmental Protection Act 1990, Anti-Social Behaviour legislation, and associated regulations.
  • Authorise and oversee enforcement actions including improvement notices, prohibition orders, civil penalties, prosecutions, and works in default.
  • Manage selective, additional, and HMO licensing compliance and enforcement activities.
  • Supervise and support Housing Enforcement Officers, providing guidance, training, and performance management.
  • Develop enforcement policies, procedures, and service improvement initiatives.
  • Represent the council in court proceedings, tribunals, and formal hearings when required.
  • Prepare detailed case files, witness statements, and evidence bundles.
  • Liaise with landlords, tenants, legal services, police, fire service, social services, and partner agencies.
  • Monitor performance targets, budgets, and service delivery outcomes.
  • Contribute to housing strategy development and regulatory compliance programmes.
