A leading Australian financial institution is expanding its data engineering capability and is looking for an experienced Senior Data Engineer to join its Melbourne-based technology team.

You’ll work on high-impact data initiatives across a large-scale financial environment, building reliable data platforms and pipelines that support analytics, reporting, customer insights and business-critical decision making.

You’ll be responsible for designing, developing and maintaining scalable data solutions while working closely with data analysts, engineers, architects and business stakeholders.

Key responsibilities include:

• Designing and developing scalable data pipelines and ETL/ELT processes

• Building and maintaining cloud-based data platforms

• Developing high-quality data models and transformation processes

• Integrating data from multiple internal and external sources

• Improving data quality, reliability and performance

• Working with stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutions

• Contributing to data architecture and engineering standards

• Supporting CI/CD and automated deployment practices

• Monitoring and troubleshooting data pipelines and production environments

• Helping drive modernisation of existing data platforms and processes

You’ll ideally bring:

• 5 years' experience in data engineering

• Strong experience with Python and SQL

• Experience building production-grade ETL/ELT pipelines

• Strong understanding of data modelling and data warehousing

• Experience with cloud data platforms such as Azure, AWS or GCP

• Exposure to technologies such as Databricks, Snowflake, Spark or Airflow

• Experience working with APIs and integrating disparate data sources

• Understanding of CI/CD and modern engineering practices

• Strong communication skills and the ability to work with both technical and non-technical stakeholders

Experience within banking, financial services or another highly regulated environment would be advantageous.
