Pearson Carter are pleased to be supporting a well-established and respected regional law firm that delivers a comprehensive range of legal services to commercial clients, private individuals and wider organisations. The firm has built a strong reputation through its commitment to client service, professional expertise and long-term relationships, while continuing to develop its internal technology and business operations.

As part of this ongoing investment, they are looking to appoint an experienced IT Developer to play a key role in the development, support and improvement of their business applications and technology estate.

The role will involve working across a varied technical environment, including Microsoft Power Platform, VisualFiles, Microsoft 365, .NET, SQL and external system integrations. You will be responsible for developing new functionality, improving existing solutions, automating processes and ensuring core systems continue to meet the needs of the wider business.

This position would suit a technically capable IT professional who enjoys taking ownership of applications and working directly with users and stakeholders. You will have the opportunity to influence how technology is used across the organisation while contributing to projects that improve efficiency, reliability and the overall user experience.

Responsibilities
  • Design, build and enhance solutions using Microsoft Power Apps, Power Automate and Power BI.

  • Develop and maintain VisualFiles configurations, workflows, templates, scripts and associated data.

  • Identify opportunities to streamline manual processes through automation and improved system functionality.

  • Develop and maintain integrations between internal applications, Microsoft 365, VisualFiles, Power Platform and external services.

  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of .NET-based applications and C# solutions.

  • Work with SQL databases, including querying, data management and resolving database-related issues.

  • Investigate technical problems across applications, integrations and data sources, implementing appropriate fixes.

  • Plan and carry out application testing, ensuring changes are robust, secure and fit for purpose.

  • Maintain clear technical documentation covering systems, processes, integrations and development changes.

  • Engage with business users to understand requirements and translate them into practical technical solutions.

  • Lead or contribute to application development projects, upgrades and wider technology improvements.

  • Work collaboratively with the wider IT team to maintain reliable and secure business systems.

  • Monitor existing solutions and proactively identify areas where performance, functionality or processes can be improved.

Experience
  • Proven experience developing, supporting or administering business-critical applications within a commercial environment.

  • Practical experience building solutions with Microsoft Power Platform, particularly Power Apps and Power Automate.

  • Previous exposure to VisualFiles, case management systems or comparable workflow/application platforms.

  • Strong working knowledge of SQL and relational database technologies.

  • Experience developing or maintaining integrations through REST APIs, Dataverse or other third-party interfaces.

  • Familiarity with .NET and C#, or experience working with comparable object-oriented programming technologies.

  • A methodical approach to diagnosing application, integration and data-related issues.

  • Experience across software development, testing, deployment and change management processes.

  • Understanding of development lifecycle principles, source control and good coding practices.

  • Experience working directly with business users to gather requirements and deliver technology improvements.

  • Comfortable managing multiple projects, enhancements and support activities simultaneously.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with a practical approach to resolving technical challenges.

  • Confident communicator who can explain technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical colleagues.

  • Previous experience in the legal sector, professional services or another regulated environment would be advantageous.

Salary

Salary is dependent on experience and looking to go up to £55k.

Location

This is a hybrid role where you are expected in the office in Dudley twice a week.
