Pearson Carter is partnering with an established intelligence software business hiring a Senior AI Engineer and an AI Architect. You’ll help shape generative and agentic AI capabilities within a substantial web platform, taking solutions from initial design through to production.

• Design and deliver generative and agentic AI features that address real customer needs.

• Integrate AI components with existing applications, databases and cloud infrastructure.

• Build evaluation and monitoring approaches to maintain accuracy, reliability and performance.

• Guide developers, share engineering best practices and support AI adoption across the team.

• As a Senior AI Engineer, focus on hands-on development, integration and testing, including Java components. As an AI Architect, take broader ownership of system design, scalability and technical direction.

Essential:

• Senior AI Engineer: 5 years in software engineering or technology development, ideally 8 years.

• AI Architect: 10 years in software engineering or technology development, including substantial AI architecture and implementation experience.

• Practical experience deploying generative and agentic AI solutions into production.

• Strong software engineering fundamentals, with experience across cloud environments, data storage and application integration.

• Clear communication skills and the ability to explain and document technical decisions.

• A degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related discipline.

• Australian citizenship is mandatory due to the NV1 defence clearance eligibility requirement.

For the Senior AI Engineer position, you’ll need hands-on Java development experience. React, Spring, PostgreSQL, Elasticsearch and AWS experience will be valuable.

For the Architect position, you’ll bring experience designing scalable cloud solutions, guiding engineering teams and supporting AI evaluation and continuous monitoring. AWS or GCP experience is relevant, with React and Spring familiarity advantageous.

• Senior AI Engineer: 130,000–150,000 base.

• AI Architect: 150,000–170,000 base.

• Superannuation and an employee share option plan (ESOP) are additional.

Salary depends on your experience and capability. Candidates with approximately five years’ experience should expect the lower end of the Senior AI Engineer range.

You’ll have the opportunity to influence AI delivery, contribute to technical decisions and develop capabilities within an established software product.

Adelaide, South Australia — office-based.

You must be comfortable working on-site. Occasional working-from-home flexibility may be available, capped at one day per week. These positions are not offered as remote or regular hybrid arrangements.
