We’re looking for a skilled **Java Developer** to join our development team in Oxford. You’ll design, develop and maintain software applications using Java, bringing strong problem-solving skills and backend development experience. As a **Java Developer**, you’ll work closely with developers, testers and product teams to deliver reliable solutions.

**Location:** Oxford, UK

**Salary:** £40,000–£50,000 per annum, depending on experience

In this **Java Developer** role, you will:

- Design, develop and maintain Java applications, REST APIs and backend services.

- Write clean, efficient and well-structured code, following development best practises.

- Work with SQL databases to store, manage and retrieve data.

- Identify and resolve bugs and performance issues, and test applications for quality and reliability.

- Review code, support existing systems and develop new features in collaboration with colleagues.

You’ll bring proven experience as a **Java Developer**, strong knowledge of Java and object-oriented programing, and experience with Spring Boot, the Spring Framework, REST APIs and microservices. You should also have experience with MySQL or PostgreSQL, familiarity with Git, and an understanding of testing and debugging. Good communication skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team are important.

Experience with AWS or another cloud platform, Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines or Agile methods would be useful. Familiarity with JavaScript, HTML, CSS or PHP is also welcome.
