The Company

I am working exclusively in partnership with one of the UK’s leading process engineering companies.  The business focus on the delivery of turnkey engineering projects for process industries including mechanical, electrical, process and software design as well as the fabrication of some process plant equipment for industries including food, drink, and pharmaceuticals.  The projects the company deliver range from £2 - £20 million in value and the business employs 160 people at their UK operation including many engineers who have achieved chartered status.

The company have grown incredibly in the past five years from a turnover of £25 million to £50 million currently with the next five years seeing them expect to become a £100 million business.  The company has the backing of a large global organisation and a local trading history dating back over 200 years.

Quality is one of the company’s major projects heading into 2021 and they are looking to identify the cost of poor quality more effectively and then identify and address non-conformances across business processes.  As a result they are looking to recruit a Quality Engineer with immediate effect.

 

The Role

The business is currently putting together a quality project team from various functions across the business to serve as the driving force for the quality projects across the business.  The Quality Engineer will act as a lead on some of these quality projects aswell as a guide and coach for the other members of the team.

The main aim moving forwards for the business is to be able to measure the cost of poor quality across the business and begin to improve this.

Key duties in the Quality Engineer will include:

  • Organising, leading and coaching the team through problem solving around non-conformances.
  • Leading the cultural change in the business to that of a problem-solving culture.
  • Taking the lead on non-conformance issues using problem solving tools such as 8D and FMEA to identify root cause issues.
  • Creating visual KPI boards to track and create more awareness for quality performance in the business.
  • Establishing the cost of poor quality on non conformances
  • Carrying out auditing activities against the standards in the current quality management system to prepare for external audits.
  • Collating the information required on projects to allow CE marking to take place.

 

The Candidate

The ideal Quality Engineer will need:

  • To have worked for an engineering or manufacturing company previously in a quality focussed role.
  • To have had exposure to quality projects across a range of functions within an engineering or manufacturing organisation.
  • An analytical mind.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills using techniques such as 8D and FMEA.

 

The Benefits

The successful Quality Engineer will receive a starting salary of £37,000 and a range of other benefits including:

  • 24 days annual leave plus bank holidays rising to 25 after your first year in the business.
