Assessment Officer needed in Southampton £15.33 per hr  PAYE - Reference:5191981

This role will involve:

  • To write to and liaise with internal customers, claimants, external agencies, employers, local and central government departments, for example, the Department for Work and Pensions, landlords and other organisations and agencies as required to ensure all information required is available to assess benefit claims delivering first time resolution to customers.
  • To process and make timely decisions on claims for Housing and/or Council Tax Support and Second Adult rebate in accordance with current legislation, procedures, and discretionary policies and in accordance with service targets.
  • To identify errors on claims, correct appropriately and inform managers of any Local Authority errors above £1000 to enable impact on Housing Benefit subsidy to be monitored and to feedback to manager for training and monitoring purposes to minimise future assessment errors.
  • To accurately input, amend and retrieve information regarding benefit claims on the computer systems in use in the Revenues and Benefits Service in accordance with office practice and procedures, for example processing correspondence and computer listings, use Automation Transfer to Local Authority System (ATLAS) and Universal Credit Delivery Service

This is a full time role on a temporary contract basis
