Housing Standards Support Officer (Hybrid) needed in Esher, £18.23ph PAYE - Reference: OR108436

- Week 1: 100% in office

- Week 2 onwards: 2 days remote, 3 days district/office

You will be responsible for providing comprehensive administrative and operational support to the Housing Standards team, ensuring the smooth day-to-day operation of the service.

The team delivers a range of functions aimed at improving housing conditions, supporting vulnerable residents, and ensuring compliance with housing standards across the borough. 

The team’s work extends to the mandatory licensing of housing in multiple occupation (HMO), bringing empty homes into use and meeting our responsibilities under the Renters Rights Act.

We are seeking an organised and proactive administrator to support the Housing Standards responsible for handling public enquiries, maintaining accurate records, and triaging housing hazards under the Housing Health and Safety Rating System (HHSRS).  

The role involves administering HMO licensing applications, renewals, and variations, ensuring compliance with housing legislation, managing high volumes of casework, maintaining up-to-date systems, and responding professionally to landlords, tenants, and partners, while providing efficient administrative support to ensure the effective delivery of licensing and wider housing enforcement services.

 

The main purpose of the role:

 

  1. To act as the first point of contact for enquiries to the Housing Standards Team, responding to queries directly or directing them to the appropriate officer, and providing advice or signposting where appropriate.

 

  1. To support the coordination of the team’s day-to-day activities, including managing appointments, processing HMO Applications, triaging disrepair cases using HHSRS, keeping track of cases, and liaising with officers, contractors, and external partners.

 

  1. To maintain accurate and up-to-date records of cases, and service activity, ensuring data is recorded in line with council systems and procedures.

 

  1. To provide general administrative support to the Housing Standards team  and the wider Housing Service as required.

 

This is a full time role on a temporary contract basis.
